Window contractor Google Ads cost about $8.76 per click and $200.34 per lead at the median, according to LocaliQ's 2025 home services search benchmarks for Doors and Windows Sales, the second most expensive lead of 16 home service categories. An agency data set from 99 Calls puts the average window installation click higher, at $18.01 across 3,810 clicks in 2026, with campaigns ranging from $8.61 to $43.49. Google Local Services Ads charged $88.31 per lead on average and $95.67 at the median, but that figure rests on only two campaigns. For most window replacement companies, plan on roughly $200 per search lead and budget from there.

Window replacement is a high ticket, slow decision purchase, and that shows in the numbers. The click is not unusually expensive. The problem is that few clicks turn into leads. Below is every benchmark worth planning with and what each one rests on, why window leads cost what they do, where the widely repeated $85 to $250 range comes from, what Local Services Ads cost, and how to set a monthly budget from a lead target.

How much does a window contractor pay per lead on Google Ads?

There are three figures worth using, and they measure different things. It helps to read them side by side before quoting any of them.

LocaliQ is the strongest source for cost per lead because it has a large sample and reports medians, so a few runaway campaigns do not drag the figure up. 99 Calls is more recent and shows how wide click prices run between campaigns. Its average is an average, so a handful of $40 clicks in competitive metros pull it well above a typical small market.

Why window leads cost more than most home service leads

Window clicks are priced in the middle of the pack. Leads are not. The difference is the conversion rate, and LocaliQ's own table shows it clearly.

Home services category (LocaliQ 2025)Cost per clickConversion rateCost per lead
Roofing and Gutters$10.703.70%$228.15
Doors and Windows Sales$8.764.41%$200.34
Construction and Contractors (General)$5.312.61%$165.67
Paint and Painting$13.7410.80%$138.38
Plumbing$10.497.63%$129.02
Blinds and Window Treatments$7.696.00%$113.30
Window Cleaning$9.1213.58%$66.69

A painter pays more per click than a window company and still gets leads for about two thirds of the price, because more than one in ten painting clicks becomes a lead. Only 4.41 percent of window clicks do. At that rate you buy about 23 clicks for every lead, and 23 clicks at $8.76 is roughly $200. The math checks out, and it tells you where the lever is. Cutting the click price by a dollar saves about $23 a lead. Lifting the conversion rate from 4.4 to 6 percent saves about $54.

LocaliQ also reported that Doors and Windows Sales saw one of the largest click price increases of any home services category, over 46 percent, and that its click through rate was 5.52 percent. It links the high lead costs in windows and roofing to homeowners putting money into repairing their homes rather than adding features. A replacement window job is a considered purchase: the homeowner collects quotes, compares materials and waits on financing, so fewer people are ready to fill in a form on the first visit.

To see how much the conversion rate matters, take 99 Calls' average click of $18.01. If only 4.41 percent of those clicks converted, each lead would cost about $408. That is an illustration that mixes two sources, not a benchmark, but it shows why an expensive market with a weak landing page can double the numbers above.

Where the $85 to $250 and $200 per lead figures come from

Search for window replacement lead costs and you will see $200 average and $85 to $250 per lead repeated across agency blogs. We traced them. One 2026 agency post attributes its $200 average to BaaDigi's replacement window benchmarks and its $85 to $250 range to another marketing firm's analysis. BaaDigi's benchmark page, in turn, credits its $200.34 cost per lead, $8.76 click and 4.41 percent conversion rate to LocaliQ's 2025 home services report. So the $200 you keep seeing is the LocaliQ median, passed along two or three times. The $85 to $250 range has no published sample behind it. Use the LocaliQ figure and cite it directly.

What does a window replacement lead cost on Local Services Ads?

Local Services Ads are the pay per lead units with a Google badge that sit above the regular search ads. Google's United States screening page lists a Window repair category for professionals who install and repair windows and may also service skylights, doors and other types of glass. Business and owner background checks apply to select users only, and Google asks for general liability and professional liability insurance, plus a state business license and owner license where local law requires them.

The only public price data we found is the 99 Calls estimator: $88.31 average and $95.67 median per charged lead for window installation contractors, from two client campaigns over three months. Two campaigns cannot tell you what your market will cost, so treat it as a sign that Local Services Ads leads can come in at around half the search figure, not as a benchmark. For comparison, the same estimator shows roofing at $142.98 average and remodeling at $106.45 average on larger samples.

Google is also moving Local Services Ads into Performance Max. Its first United States wave names plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, house cleaning, lawn care, roofing, pest control and moving, and says including, so the list is not complete. Windows is not named. When your category moves, the images and text assets you upload start doing more of the selling, which is one more reason to have window creative ready before you need it.

How much should a window company spend on Google Ads per month?

Start from how many leads your sales team can handle, then multiply by a cost per lead. The table uses LocaliQ's $200.34 search median and the 99 Calls $95.67 Local Services Ads median as a low end.

Leads per monthSearch ads at $200.34 per leadLocal Services Ads at $95.67 per lead
10$2,003$957
20$4,007$1,913
40$8,014$3,827

What matters next is how many of those leads you close. The table below turns each lead price into a cost per signed job at four close rates. These are arithmetic on the lead prices above, not survey figures. Plug in your own close rate and your own average job to see whether the ads pay.

Close rateCost per sale at $200.34 per leadCost per sale at $95.67 per lead
15 percent$1,336$638
20 percent$1,002$478
25 percent$801$383
35 percent$572$273

A window replacement job usually runs into the thousands of dollars, so a cost per sale of $800 to $1,300 can still be a good trade. The number to watch is gross profit per job against cost per sale, month by month, with calls and forms both tracked back to the campaign and the ad that produced them.

How window contractors lower their cost per lead

  • Split campaigns by product. Replacement windows, patio and entry doors, window repair and specific materials such as vinyl or fiberglass are different searches with different buyers. Each needs its own ad group, its own headlines and its own landing page, so the ad matches the search word for word.
  • Block the searches that are not yours. The word windows pulls in a surprising amount of software traffic. Google's own autocomplete for window contractor Google Ads suggests google ads app for windows and google ads editor download windows. Add negative keywords for Windows 11, software, download, jobs, window cleaning and DIY, and check the search terms report every week.
  • Answer speed. A homeowner who fills in a form is usually filling in two or three. Calling back within minutes beats calling back tomorrow. If your office passes leads around by email, software that routes every new lead to the next available sales rep keeps the fastest response from depending on who happens to be at a desk.
  • Lift the conversion rate with the creative. The 4.41 percent median is the thing to beat. Show the product in a real home, name the material and the energy benefit you can back up, state the offer and its terms if you run one, and put the phone number in call assets. Test headline and image variations, because each lift in conversion rate cuts cost per lead more than any bid change.
  • Qualify on the form. Ask how many windows, the rough timeline and whether the person owns the home. Fewer leads that close beat more leads that do not.
  • Have image assets ready. Performance Max, Demand Gen and display campaigns all use images. Square, landscape and vertical versions of each product ad let Google place them everywhere they fit.

Where to get the ads themselves

If you want the copy and creative done in one pass, AdsCreator's Google Ads for contractors page covers search ad copy and image assets for window, door and exterior trades, and the home remodeling ad maker builds product specific ads in every Facebook, Instagram and display size from your brand kit. The Google ad copy generator handles responsive search ad copy on its own. For the wider trade picture, what Google Ads cost for contractors compares lead prices across the trades, and if you also install window film, what Google Ads cost for window tinting covers that auction.
