Nobody publishes a measured Google Ads benchmark for window tinting, so any single number you read for it is an estimate. The closest measured figures come from trades that share the tint buyer: mobile auto detailing averaged $4.03 per click and a $26 median lead in 2026, and auto repair and service averaged $4.35 per click and $29.96 per lead in LocaliQ's sample of 2,001 US campaigns. Agency pages quote window tinting at $2 to $10 per click and $15 to $50 per lead, but give no sample, no date and no definition of a lead. A sensible first plan for a tint shop is $4 to $8 per click and $25 to $50 per lead, replaced by your own account's numbers after the first 30 days.
That is less satisfying than a single headline number, and it is also more honest than most of what ranks for this question. Below is every figure worth budgeting with and what sits behind it, why residential and commercial film searches cost a different amount from car tint, what Google's Local Services Ads program does and does not offer a tint shop, and how to size a monthly budget on cost per booked install instead of cost per click.
How much does a window tint lead cost on Google Ads?
Plan on roughly $25 to $50 per lead for car tint, with the lower half more likely in smaller markets and the upper half in large metros where dealers and chains bid on the same terms. That range comes from the two measured datasets closest to tint, not from a tint sample, because none has been published. Here is what each figure is and how much weight it deserves.
| Figure and source | Cost per click | Cost per lead | What sits behind it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Window tinting, agency quoted (Symphony Advertising) | $2 to $10 | $15 to $50 | No sample, date or lead definition stated |
| Mobile auto detailing (99 Calls) | $4.03 average, $2.40 to $5.97 by campaign | $26 median, $17 to $31 by month | 4,066 clicks; 3 to 5 advertisers per month, January to August 2026 |
| Auto repair, service and parts (LocaliQ) | $4.35 average | $29.96 average, 15.51% conversion rate | 2,001 US search campaigns, October 2024 to September 2025 |
| Window installation (99 Calls) | $18.01 average, $8.61 to $43.49 by campaign | Not published | 3,810 clicks, 2026 |
| All 27 home service industries (99 Calls) | Not published | $13 to $637 median by industry | 361 accounts, 34,064 leads, $4,068,508 in spend |
The detailing row is the one to lean on. A detailing customer and a tint customer are often the same person with the same car, searching the same way ("near me," the service, sometimes the vehicle), and many shops sell both. The auto repair row is a useful cross check because its sample is large, and it lands within a few dollars of detailing on both the click and the lead. The agency range brackets both, which is the best that can be said for it: it is not wrong, it is just not a measurement.
Why is there no measured benchmark for window tint?
The two largest public datasets that break costs out by local trade are not built around tint. The 99 Calls report covers 27 home service industries from 361 accounts it manages and publishes an industry only when at least three advertisers report in a month; tint is not one of the 27. LocaliQ groups automotive advertisers into broad subcategories and reports repair, service and parts together. A tint shop is a small, local, owner run business, and very few of them run accounts large enough, or through the same agency, to form a sample anyone could publish. So when a page quotes a precise tint cost per lead without saying where it came from, it is usually an agency's own client average or a rounded guess.
How much does a click cost for window tint keywords?
For car tint, expect a click in the same neighborhood as detailing and auto repair, roughly $3 to $6 in most markets, higher in big metros and in states where tint is a year round sale. Your own number is one search away: Google's Keyword Planner shows the low and high top of page bid range for terms like "window tint near me," "ceramic window tint" and "car window tinting" in your exact service area, and that range is a better planning input than any national average.
Residential and commercial window film behave differently. A homeowner searching "window film for home" or a facilities manager searching "commercial window tinting" is in the same auction neighborhood as window installation and glass companies, and 99 Calls puts the 2026 average window installation click at $18.01, with campaign averages from $8.61 to $43.49. Film installers are not window replacement companies, and your click may well come in below that, but it is a warning not to budget a commercial film campaign at car tint prices.
How do you set a Google Ads budget for a tint shop?
Work backward from the job, not forward from a retainer. The arithmetic takes three inputs: your click price, the share of clicks that become a call or form, and the share of those leads that book an install. The table below uses a 15.5 percent click to lead rate, close to both LocaliQ's 15.51 percent for auto repair and the 15.8 percent 99 Calls measured on general mobile detailing searches, and a 40 percent close rate, which you should replace with your own.
| Average click | Cost per lead at 15.5% | Cost per booked install at 40% close | Installs from $1,200 a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| $4 | About $26 | About $65 | About 18 |
| $6 | About $39 | About $97 | About 12 |
| $8 | About $52 | About $129 | About 9 |
| $10 | About $65 | About $161 | About 7 |
Now compare the last two columns with your average ticket. If a booked ceramic install costs you $97 in ads and the job is several hundred dollars, the campaign pays. If a booked standard tint job costs the same $97 and the ticket is small, it does not, and the fix is either a better converting ad or moving that budget to the ceramic and windshield work. That is why a shop should split campaigns by job from day one: the blended number hides which job is paying for the others.
One mechanical point surprises many first time advertisers. A Google Ads daily budget is an average, not a ceiling. Google's own help page says a campaign may spend up to twice its average daily budget on a given day, and will spend no more than 30.4 times the daily budget over a month. Set the daily figure from the monthly number you can afford divided by 30.4, and expect busy days to run over it.
Can a tint shop use Google Local Services Ads?
Not as a tint shop. Google's United States screening page for Local Services Ads lists an Auto Care group of towing, tire shop (California and Florida only), car wash, auto repair shop and auto body shop. There is no window tint or window film category anywhere on the page. Car wash is defined as a professional who cleans car interiors and exteriors, which is not the service you sell. On the building side, the window repair category covers professionals who install and repair windows and other glass, and a residential film installer may or may not be accepted there; Google decides at screening. For budgeting, assume paid search and Meta are your paid channels, and that the pay per lead model other trades lean on is not available to you.
What makes a tint lead turn into a booked install?
Most of the gap between a $26 lead and a $52 lead on the same click price is conversion, and most of it is decided in the first minute after the click. Tint buyers compare three shops, often on the same afternoon. The shop that answers the phone, quotes the car and offers a time usually wins. Put the price range for common vehicles on the landing page, show the shades you carry on one car, and let people pick an install slot themselves with online appointment scheduling instead of waiting for a callback. A lead who books a slot at 9 p.m. is worth far more than one who fills in a form and hears back the next day, by which point a competitor has already quoted.
What should a window tint ad say so the lead is worth paying for?
An ad that pre-qualifies the click saves money before the landing page has to. Three rules do most of the work.
- One job per ad. Standard tint, ceramic, windshield, residential film and commercial film have different buyers and different tickets. An ad that names the job and the starting price filters out the wrong buyer before you pay for them.
- Name the legal limit. Each state sets its own visible light limits by window. Florida, for example, allows film on front side windows only if at least 28 percent of visible light still passes through. "Legal to the state limit, metered on every install" is a trust line a cheaper shop rarely uses.
- Quote the spec sheet, not an adjective. UV and heat rejection figures are objective claims and need a basis before they run. Take them from the manufacturer's sheet for the exact film you install. The Skin Cancer Foundation grants its Seal of Recommendation to window film only when the maker shows data proving 99 percent or more UVA and UVB blocking, so if your film carries it, that seal says more than any headline.
The weak point for most shops is producing that creative. Five jobs, each needing a feed image, a vertical story and three or four display sizes, is about 30 files before a single test variant, and each needs the right car, the right shade and the right city named. AdsCreator builds that set from one service page URL or a one sentence offer, with ad copy and on-brand images in every Facebook, Instagram and Google size. See the window tint advertising page for what it produces, and compare with the Google Ads cost for auto detailing and the Google Ads cost for auto repair shops, the two measured trades this page leans on. For the form side, lead generation ads covers instant forms that collect the vehicle, the windows and the shade wanted without a landing page.
