Auto Detailing Advertising: Car Detailing Ads, Auto Detailing Marketing and a Mobile Detailing Ad Maker

A mobile auto detailing lead cost a typical company $26 on Google Ads in 2026, the second cheapest of 27 home service trades, and the click behind it averaged $4.03. Cheap traffic is the whole advantage in this trade, and it stops working the moment one generic "we detail cars" ad has to carry interior cleanups, paint correction, ceramic coating and boat jobs at the same time. AdsCreator writes the copy and builds on-brand creative for each detailing service, in every placement size, in one pass.

Direct answer

Auto detailing advertising is the paid layer that keeps a detailing calendar full: Google Search ads on "mobile car detailing near me" and "interior car detailing," Facebook and Instagram ads that show before and after work to car owners in the zip codes you already drive, and retargeting for the higher ticket jobs people research for a week before they book. AdsCreator is an auto detailing ad maker. Paste a service page URL or type the offer in a sentence, and it writes the headline, primary text and call to action, generates on-brand images with your shop colors and logo, and renders every Facebook, Instagram and Google display size with variants to test. It makes images and copy, not video, and it never connects to your ad accounts.

The problem

Detailing is the rare trade where the traffic is cheap and the creative is the bottleneck. In 99 Calls data from 361 home service Google Ads accounts, the median mobile auto detailing lead cost $26 from February to August 2026, second lowest of 27 industries behind mobile mechanic at $13, and the average click cost $4.03 against $29.52 for HVAC and $52.30 for restoration. The monthly median moved only between $17 in March and $31 in July. So the money is not lost at the auction. It is lost after the click, because a detailer sells at least six different jobs to six different buyers: a $150 interior cleanup for a parent with a car full of crumbs, a $200 maintenance detail, paint correction for an enthusiast, a $1,200 ceramic coating that gets researched for a week, an RV or boat detail worth several hundred, and fleet work sold to a business. One "full detail, book today" ad shown to all of them converts at the blended rate and wastes the cheapest clicks in home services. Separate creative per service, sized for Facebook, Instagram and Google display, is the part a one truck operation never has an evening left to build.

How AdsCreator handles it

AdsCreator turns one offer into the whole ad set. Paste the URL of your interior detail, paint correction, ceramic coating or boat detailing page, or type the offer in a sentence, and it writes the ad copy in the tone you pick, builds images from your brand kit, and renders square, vertical, landscape and display sizes in one pass. Build an interior set, an exterior and paint care set, a ceramic coating set, a boat and RV set and a fleet set, keep them ready, and switch each one on in the month its demand peaks. Pricing is flat with no credits, so five offers cost the same to produce as one. Export the files and upload them to Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads yourself.

What auto detailing advertising costs per click and per lead, by service.

Mobile auto detailing is one of the few trades with public Google Ads data broken out by service. 99 Calls, a firm that manages Google Ads and Local Services Ads for home service companies, publishes cost per lead by industry from 361 accounts it manages, average cost per click by industry, and a search term level breakdown of detailing lead costs. These are the figures worth budgeting with, read on September 21, 2026.

Detailing service or channel Cost per click Cost per lead Sample
Search, general and mobile auto detailing $3.93 $25 884 leads, 15.8% of clicks
Search, interior detailing $3.24 $21 38 leads, 15.3% of clicks
Search, exterior detailing and paint care $3.25 $21 20 leads, directional only
Search, boat and RV detailing $4.94 $20 194 leads, 24.3% of clicks
Search, ceramic coating Not published Not published 4 tracked leads, too thin to report
Search, mobile auto detailing, median 2026 See below $26 median, $17 to $31 monthly 3 to 5 advertisers per month
Search, mobile detailing, cost per click by industry $4.03 average, $2.40 to $5.97 Second cheapest click of 27 trades 4,066 clicks
Search, all 27 home service industries Not published $13 to $637 median by industry 361 accounts, 34,064 leads

Sources: 99 Calls, Google Ads lead costs by home service industry in 2026, 361 live Google Ads accounts, 34,064 leads and $4,068,508 in ad spend from January to August 2026, published February 3, 2026 and updated September 11, 2026 (a lead is a call or form from a real prospect, not a click; Local Services Ads excluded); 99 Calls, Google Ads lead costs for mobile auto detailing services in 2026, published September 21, 2026, for the service level table; 99 Calls, lowest and highest CPC campaigns in Google Ads, published August 25, 2026 and updated September 15, 2026. Three to five advertisers a month is a thin base, so plan with the range rather than the single figure, and treat the 20 lead exterior row as a direction, not a benchmark. Media spend is billed by Google and Meta directly and is separate from creative production.

Which detailing services deserve their own ad, and what each buyer is actually worth

The service level data makes the split obvious. Interior detailing leads cost about $21 each on a $3.24 click, exterior and paint care about $21 on a $3.25 click, general mobile detailing about $25 on a $3.93 click, and boat and RV detailing about $20 on a $4.94 click. The lead prices are close. The job values are not. An interior cleanup and a ceramic coating can be ten times apart on the invoice while costing the same to advertise, which is the single strongest argument for splitting the campaigns. Build interior first, because the searches behind it are specific and urgent: pet hair, spilled milkshake, smoke odor, stained seats, a lease return inspection next week. Build exterior and paint care second, for swirl marks, oxidation, water spots and pre sale prep. Build ceramic coating third and expect it to behave differently: 99 Calls found ceramic coating searches in the data but only four tracked leads, too few to publish, which matches what detailers report, that coating buyers research for days and rarely convert on a first visit. Treat that one as a retargeting and social proof job, not a click and book job. Build boat and RV fourth if you are equipped for it, because it converted best of all: 24.3 percent of clicks became leads, the highest rate in the analysis, on a lead price of about $20. Fleet and commercial accounts are the fifth set, sold to a business rather than a driver, and worth a separate ad entirely because the promise is uptime and appearance standards, not a weekend shine.

A $26 lead is only cheap if the ad sells a job that pays it back twice

Cheap leads make detailers careless. Run the arithmetic on your own numbers instead. Twenty leads at $26 is $520. Close 40 percent and that is eight booked jobs, so about $65 of ad spend per job. On a $200 average ticket that is $1,600 in first invoices, and it is not $1,080 of profit, because labor, fuel, chemicals, pads, water and card fees come out of it. On a $75 express interior wipe down it is a loss. The service you advertise decides whether the channel works, not the lead price. The second half of the math is repeat work, which is the real reason detailing tolerates paid acquisition. A customer who books a full detail in April often books again in the fall, then brings a second vehicle, a spouse's car, a work truck, a boat or an RV, and refers a neighbor. So track cost per booked job, average ticket, repeat booking rate and revenue per customer, not cost per lead on its own. A $31 lead that becomes a twice a year customer with two vehicles beats a $17 lead that buys one express wash and never answers again. The creative decides which one you get: an ad that leads with a discounted first wash sells the wrong customer, while an ad that shows a full interior transformation and prices the full detail attracts the person who was going to spend anyway.

Detailing clicks are the second cheapest in home services, so conversion rate is the only real lever

99 Calls puts the 2026 average mobile detailing click at $4.03 across 4,066 clicks, with campaign averages from $2.40 to $5.97. Only mobile mechanic ($3.93) is cheaper among the 27 industries in that report, and detailing sits far below landscaping ($8.74), carpet cleaning ($12.37), roofing ($25.70), pool service ($27.26) and HVAC ($29.52). That is worth stating plainly because agency pages routinely quote $5 to $9 per detailing click and $1,500 to $4,000 a month as a floor, with no sample behind either number. The measured data says the click is cheaper than that and the lead is cheaper than the $15 to $35 usually quoted, which means a small operator can test a service with a few hundred dollars rather than a retainer. What the cheap click does not do is fix a weak click to lead rate. At 15.3 to 15.8 percent on the main categories, roughly five of every six people who click do not contact you. Boat and RV hit 24.3 percent because those searchers already know what they need. You close that gap the same way in every category: match the ad to the search, put the transformation in the image rather than a stock photo of a clean car, say where you travel, and give the price or a price range. 99 Calls makes the same point from the campaign side when it says a trade wins on what happens after the click, not on the bid.

Local Services Ads for detailing: Google has no detailing category, so you apply as a car wash

This surprises most detailers. Google's United States screening page for Local Services Ads lists an Auto Care group made up of towing, tire shop (available in California and Florida only), car wash, auto repair shop and auto body shop. There is no auto detailing or mobile detailing category. The nearest fit is car wash, which Google defines as a professional who "cleans car interiors and exteriors," and that is the category detailers apply under. Its requirements are lighter than the rest of the group: a business background check and an owner background check for select users only, a business check and a business representative check at registration for select users only, general liability and professional liability insurance, and a state business license and owner license where local law requires them. Unlike towing and auto repair, car wash does not ask for garage keepers liability insurance, which is the expensive line on the auto repair list. Google says screening takes three to four weeks on average, and you need a claimed and verified Google Business Profile linked to the account before any of it starts. Since October 2025, Google Guaranteed and Google Screened have been folded into a single Google Verified badge. Local Services listings are built from your profile, photos and reviews rather than uploaded creative, so the images you make here are for search display, Performance Max, Facebook and Instagram.

What the move from Local Services Ads to Performance Max means for a mobile detailer

Google is moving Local Services Ads into Google Ads as Performance Max campaigns with pay per lead goals. The first United States phase announced for August 2026 names plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, house cleaning, lawn care, roofing, pest control and moving, introduced with the word "including," so read the list as examples rather than a closed set. Detailing and car wash are not named. The late 2026 phase covers service area businesses without a physical storefront, which is exactly what a mobile detailer is, and 2027 covers the remaining categories. Google says the pay per lead campaigns are keywordless, run on Search and Maps only, and take their information from your Google Business Profile, so an outdated profile becomes an outdated ad. The account administrator gets an email 14 days before the switch and a reminder seven days later, verified status and the badge carry over without reverifying licenses or insurance, previous Local Services performance reports stop being accessible, and Google says to allow up to two weeks for results to settle. The preparation is the same as for any Performance Max campaign: current photos on the profile, accurate service areas, and image and text assets already built for each service so the first fortnight is not spent designing.

What a detailing ad has to show, from a 1080 x 1350 feed post to a 300 x 250 banner

Detailing sells on a result people can see, which makes it one of the easiest trades to advertise well and one of the most commonly advertised badly. The strongest single image is a split of the same surface from the same angle: the driver seat before and after, one headlight restored and one not, half a hood polished. 99 Calls says the same thing from the landing page side, that before and after photos are particularly powerful here because customers can judge the quality instantly. Then answer the three questions a mobile detailer has to answer in the ad itself: that you come to them, how far you travel, and what it costs or starts at. Name the towns, because a cheap lead an hour outside your radius is not a cheap lead. On Facebook and Instagram that fits a 1080 x 1350 feed image or a 1080 x 1080 square, with 1080 x 1920 vertical for Stories and Reels. On Google display the message has to survive a 300 x 250 rectangle, a 728 x 90 leaderboard and a 320 x 50 mobile banner, where only the result, the service area and the call to action fit. Responsive display and Performance Max want a 1200 x 628 landscape and a 1200 x 1200 square. Use your own work with the owner's permission, keep plates and faces out of frame, and never show a result you did not produce. AdsCreator renders every one of those sizes from the same offer.

questions

Auto detailing ad maker: the questions people ask.

How to advertise a car detailing business?

Advertise a car detailing business with Google Search ads on "mobile car detailing near me," "interior car detailing" and "car detailing near me," and Facebook and Instagram ads showing before and after work to car owners in the zip codes you drive. Give interior, exterior and paint care, ceramic coating, and boat or RV detailing their own ads, because each is a different buyer at a different price.

What is the best advertising for auto detailing?

Google Search wins the jobs people want booked this week, and in 99 Calls data those leads cost about $20 to $25 each in 2026, among the cheapest in home services. Facebook and Instagram win the higher ticket work, because a ceramic coating or full paint correction is researched before it is bought and a before and after image does that job. Most profitable detailers run both.

Do Facebook ads work for auto detailing?

Facebook ads work for auto detailing when they show a visible transformation and name the area you serve: an interior before and after, a paint correction split shot, or a seasonal offer like pre winter coating or spring pollen removal. They work less well for an urgent need like a lease return inspection next week, which is a search moment. Target the zip codes you drive and retarget people who viewed your pricing page.

How much should a detailing business spend on advertising?

Start from the lead price rather than a retainer. The median mobile auto detailing Google Ads lead cost $26 in 2026 in 99 Calls data, so 20 leads a month is roughly $520 in search spend. At a 40 percent close rate that is about eight booked jobs. Test one service at a time, judge it on cost per booked job and repeat bookings, and raise the budget only on the services that pay back twice.

How much does auto detailing advertising software cost?

AdsCreator pricing starts at $39 per month on Starter, or $29 per month billed yearly. There is no free plan and no credits to ration, so building separate ad sets for interior, exterior and paint care, ceramic coating, boat and RV and fleet work costs the same as building one. Every plan exports all Facebook, Instagram and Google display sizes, and your media budget is billed by Google and Meta separately.

Budget is the first question most detailers ask, and the measured data is a long way from the numbers agency pages quote. How much Google Ads cost for auto detailing gives the month by month lead cost for 2026, the price of a lead by detailing service, and why a $26 lead can still lose money on a single interior clean.

Detailing shares a customer and often a parking lot with the rest of the vehicle trades. The auto repair shop ad maker covers service and repair creative, and auto dealer ad builder software covers vehicle sales creative, which matters if you detail trade ins or reconditioning for a dealer.

For the search side, Google Ads for contractors covers the responsive search and display asset requirements, and lead generation ads covers instant forms that collect the vehicle, the service wanted and the address without a landing page. Small business ad maker covers the same workflow for owner run shops in any trade.
