Google Ads for carpet cleaning cost about $6 to $14 per click and $34 to $67 per lead in 2026, and a typical carpet cleaning company pays around $45 per lead. Those figures come from 99 Calls, which published Google Ads data from carpet cleaning campaigns it managed between January 2024 and July 2026, split by service and by advertiser percentile. Mattress cleaning is the cheapest lead at $34 and commercial carpet cleaning the most expensive at $67. Local Services Ads, the pay per lead units above the search results, ran $41.79 per charged lead on average and $33.85 at the median when we checked on September 11, 2026.

Below is every figure worth budgeting with and the sample behind each, how lead costs moved month by month in 2026, why the Local Services Ads average and median disagree, where carpet cleaning sits in the move of Local Services Ads into Performance Max, and how to turn all of it into a monthly budget.

How much do Google Ads cost for carpet cleaning?

This is the service breakdown from the 99 Calls carpet cleaning report, published July 16, 2026 and updated August 6, 2026. Every row is a Google Ads search campaign, not Local Services Ads, and cost per lead is ad spend divided by tracked calls and form submissions. The report does not publish how many campaigns or leads sit behind each row.

ServiceAvg. cost per clickClick to lead rateCost per lead
Mattress cleaning$7.2922%$34
Carpet cleaning, general$9.9427%$37
Steam cleaning$8.8323%$38
Upholstery cleaning$8.6721%$41
Area rug cleaning$7.8818%$45
Pet stain and odor removal$6.2714%$47
Tile and grout cleaning$9.3116%$58
Commercial carpet cleaning$13.8921%$67

Two things stand out. First, conversion decides the lead price here as much as the auction does. In what Google Ads cost junk removal companies, the click to lead rate barely moves across job types, so the lead price is mostly the click price. In carpet cleaning it swings from 14 to 27 percent. General carpet cleaning is the clearest case: it has the second most expensive click at $9.94, but 27 percent of those clicks become leads, which lands it at $37, the second cheapest lead on the list. Second, pet stain and odor removal runs the other way, with the cheapest click at $6.27 and the worst conversion at 14 percent, which leaves it at $47. That gap is where better creative and a better landing page pay off fastest.

Commercial carpet cleaning has both the highest click at $13.89 and the highest lead at $67, nearly twice a mattress cleaning lead. 99 Calls makes the fair point that commercial work often turns into a recurring contract, so the most expensive lead can still be the most profitable one you buy.

Carpet cleaning lead costs by month in 2026

The same report tracks three tiers of advertiser each month: the top performers at the 10th percentile, the median advertiser, and high cost markets at the 90th percentile.

MonthTop 10% of advertisersMedian advertiserHigh cost markets
January 2026$32$47$64
February 2026$28$48$63
March 2026$25$43$121
April 2026$30$44$79
May 2026$24$44$63
June 2026$31$45$77

The median barely moved, staying between $43 and $48 all half year, which is what you would expect from a planned purchase rather than an emergency one. The high cost tier is the volatile one. It jumped to $121 in March, nearly double the $63 to $64 it sat at in January, February and May, then settled at $77 in June. If you advertise in a dense metro, budget for a spring spike rather than a flat line.

YearMedian advertiser cost per lead
2024$42
2025$47
2026, January to June$45

Median lead costs rose about 12 percent from 2024 to 2025 and eased slightly in the first half of 2026. That makes carpet cleaning one of the steadier trades to budget for, but plan next season on this year's numbers, not on what a lead cost when you started advertising.

How much do Local Services Ads cost for carpet cleaning?

Local Services Ads charge per lead rather than per click and carry the Google Verified badge, and carpet and upholstery cleaning is an eligible category. The 99 Calls Local Services Ads cost estimator, which reports charged lead prices from its client campaigns through the Google Ads API, showed this for carpet cleaners on September 11, 2026: $41.79 average, $33.85 median, a 10th to 90th percentile range of $32.31 to $62.81, from five client campaigns over the last three months.

Read the average and the median together. The average sits about $8 above the median, so a few expensive leads are pulling it up, and a typical charged lead costs closer to $34. That is slightly below the $37 general carpet cleaning search lead and well below the $45 median search lead in the report above, so the standard advice that Local Services Ads are the cheaper channel holds for carpet cleaning, if narrowly. Five campaigns is a small sample and the figures drift as it rotates, so treat any single reading, this one included, as a snapshot.

Here is how the same estimator priced neighboring cleaning and restoration trades on the same day.

Trade (99 Calls LSA estimator, Sep 11, 2026)Average charged leadMedianClient campaigns
Carpet cleaner$41.79$33.855, last 3 months
House cleaner$40.36$31.513, last 3 months
Pressure washing contractor$40.61$48.024, last 3 months
Commercial cleaning contractor$46.95$40.325, last 3 months
Water damage restoration$146.30$105.039, last 3 months

Carpet cleaning sits with house cleaning and pressure washing at the cheap end of home services. Water damage restoration costs about three times as much per charged lead at the median, so a cleaner who also does water extraction should keep that work in its own campaign and budget rather than let it share a carpet cleaning bid.

Carpet cleaning is not named in the first wave of the Local Services Ads move into Performance Max

Google is migrating Local Services Ads out of their own dashboard and into Google Ads as Performance Max campaigns with pay per lead goals. Its documentation dates the first US phase to August 2026 for select home and storefront service advertisers, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, house cleaning, lawn care, roofing, pest control and moving. Carpet and upholstery cleaning is a separate category on Google's screening page and is not on that list. The word "including" means the list is not exhaustive, so the reliable signal is the advance notice email Google sends the account administrator 14 days before the switch, with a reminder seven days later. Late 2026 expands the migration to broader groups, including service area businesses without a physical storefront, which describes most carpet cleaners, and 2027 covers all remaining categories.

What changes when the account moves:

  • Manual bidding and vertical level target cost per action are phased out. If you hold a manual bid today, that lever goes away.
  • Weekly budgets convert to daily averages. A company that pushes most of its spend into a spring special week will see it paced differently.
  • Old performance reports stop being accessible. The Local Services Ads dashboard redirects to Google Ads after the move. Export your reports before it happens.
  • Better Business Bureau callouts are no longer supported. Pick at least six other structured callouts, such as business hours, specialties or accepted payment methods.
  • Verification carries over. Verified status and the Google Verified badge transfer, and Google says insurance and license reverification is no longer required.
  • Allow up to two weeks to settle. Google says performance can take up to two weeks after migration to return to stable levels, so do not time a big promotion for that window.

What it takes to get screened for Local Services Ads as a carpet cleaner

Google's US screening page lists, for carpet and upholstery cleaning: a business background check and an owner background check for select advertisers, a business registration check and a business representative check for select advertisers, general liability insurance, professional liability insurance, and a state level business license and owner license where local law requires them. Google says screening takes three to four weeks on average after you submit documents, and it does not publish insurance minimums for the category. If you want the badge live before the spring rush, start in the winter.

How much should a carpet cleaning company spend on Google Ads?

Work backwards from a booked job. 99 Calls illustrates the math with a $45 lead, a 40 percent close rate and a $325 average job: ten leads cost $450, four of them book, and those four jobs bring in $1,300. The table below keeps that 40 percent close rate and uses two lead prices from the report, the $45 median and the $37 general carpet cleaning lead.

Monthly budgetLeads at $45 (median)Leads at $37 (general carpet cleaning)Booked jobs at 40%
$1,00022279 to 11
$2,000445418 to 22
$3,000668126 to 32

The gap between the two lead columns is the argument for separating services. The same $2,000 buys about 10 more leads when it goes to a general carpet cleaning campaign with its own ads and creative instead of a catch all campaign paying the blended median. Your own close rate and average ticket decide the rest, so plug them in before you copy anyone's budget, this table included.

What is a good cost per lead for carpet cleaning?

Under about $32 per lead puts you with the top 10 percent of advertisers, $43 to $48 is normal, and a cost per lead that stays above $63 for months puts you with the high cost markets. Those brackets come from the monthly percentile table above. Then check them against your own economics. Using the 99 Calls example of a $325 job and a 40 percent close rate, a $45 lead costs $112.50 per booked job, about 35 percent of the ticket. At $37 a lead that falls to $92.50. Repeat business changes the math again: 99 Calls notes that many carpet cleaning customers rebook every 12 to 18 months, so the first job's lead cost is spread across the jobs that follow.

Are Google Ads worth it for carpet cleaning?

Yes for residential carpet cleaning, if you split campaigns by service and follow up fast. Carpet cleaning is a planned purchase, median lead costs have held in a narrow band for three years, and a typical lead costs a small fraction of a typical job. The harder question is which channel is doing the work once you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads and Facebook together, because each platform can count the same customer as its own conversion. A marketing dashboard that blends spend across every ad channel puts cost per booked job side by side instead of three platform reports that each take the credit. Cut the channel that costs the most per booked job, not the one with the highest cost per lead.

Why creative is the part of the budget carpet cleaners get wrong

The auction sets the click price. You set the creative, and in this trade the creative moves the click to lead rate, which the report shows swinging nearly as widely as the click price itself. A cleaner running one van photo and a three room special across every placement pays the same cost per click as a competitor running separate carpet, upholstery, pet odor, rug and tile ads with real before and after photos, and converts fewer of those clicks. Six services in four or five placement sizes each, refreshed twice a year, is roughly 50 to 60 files a year. That is either an agency invoice that grows with every offer or an owner building ads at night after the last job.

That gap is what the carpet cleaning ad maker is built for. Paste a service page URL or type the offer, and it writes the ad copy, generates on-brand images from your company colors, logo and fonts, and renders every Facebook, Instagram and Google display size in one pass, with variants to test. For search, Google Ads for contractors covers the responsive search and display asset requirements, lead generation ads covers instant form creative that collects a room count and a preferred day without a landing page, and what Google Ads cost contractors gives the wider home services benchmark to compare your numbers against.
